New Fall Class Schedule & Free KSI Lecture-Demo
NEW Schedule of Classes and Special Events
SEPTEMBER-DECEMBER, 2008
Our fall schedule is rich with classes that will help beginners establish foundation skills as well as workshops that will introduce intermediate students to new methods. Look for everything from Platemaking Basics to Introduction to Coldworking to Painting With Light, as well as Carrie Iverson’s demonstration on transferring photocopies to kiln-glass and Bonnie Celeste’s new workshop on Kilnforming With Rod. Nationally recognized arts writer Richard Speer will lead a complimentary session on how to write an effective artist statement. And as promised, Stephanie Sersich and Dustin Tabor lead a four-day flameworking class in October.
If you live on the East Coast, you’ll have an opportunity to take Bonnie Celeste’s classes, Set Your Kiln on Fire and Kiln-Glass Components for Jewelry and Wearables, when she teaches at Vitrum Studios in Beltsville, Maryland. And you will also have a chance to work with Nathan Sandberg when he leads two workshops, Textures in Kiln-Glass and KSI: Kilnforming Scene Investigation, at C3 Studios in Duluth, Georgia.
Whether you plan to come to Portland this fall or catch us on the East Coast, we look forward to working with you soon.

KSI: Kilnforming Scene Investigation
Free lecture-demo led by Nathan Sandberg
Sunday, August 17, 2008, 1-4pm
Bullseye Resource Center
RSVP August 5-15 (Required)
Would you like to become a kilnforming sleuth? Learn how to spot devitrification like a pro? Stand ready to expose firing-cycle problems or find the culprit any time glass breaks? Well here's your chance. Join Nathan Sandberg and a roomful of other clue-hounding detectives to investigate kilnforming's sticky problems and basic principles. This is an interactive session. Participants break into teams and work with samples and their firing cycles. The full group later discusses findings and conducts an in-depth review of firing, specific glass chemistries, and other kilnforming principles. A wonderful opportunity to learn how to diagnose your own kiln challenges.
You must RSVP for this free special event.
Nathan Sandberg, a member of the Bullseye Research & Education team, earned his BFA in glass and ceramics from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. His work has received critical recognition through awards and shows and is held in private collections. View his work here and here.
