FEBRUARY CLASSES—TO EXPAND YOUR VISION

Painting with Light
With Tom Jacobs
February 4-8

The phrase painting with light was coined by Italian-born painter and stained glass artist Narcissus Quagliata to characterize the openness of form and color variation made possible by melting together sheets, frits, and threads of glass within a kiln. Explore this method in a workshop that’s suitable for beginning through advanced kilnworkers and for artists crossing over from other media. (See instructor Tom Jacobs at work in this rollicking short video…)

Introduction to Kilnformed Glass
With Christy Corbett
February 4-9

Kilnformed glass can be described quite simply—as objects shaped from pre-made glass within a heating chamber called a kiln. There is nothing simple, however, in the variety of ways the kiln can be used to create glass works. This class covers basic to intermediate kilnforming techniques and is suitable for beginners, as well as artists from other media who want to translate their work into glass.
