Coldwork by erik Whittemore

Class: Introduction to Kilncast Glass and Coldworking
With Erik Whittemore (CL0883)
January 14-18; Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm

Kilncasting involves placing chunks, frits, sheets or other forms of cold glass into or above a carefully designed mold, then heating the glass in the kiln until it flows and fills the voids. Once the glass has been cast, it can be finished or sculpted further using coldworking techniques such as grinding, carving, engraving, and polishing. Learn a wide variety of methods for both kilncasting and coldworking in this popular introductory class, led by Erik Whittemore—practicing sculptor and Bullseye instructor/technician who also teaches Lost Wax Kilncasting and Introduction to Coldworking.

Note: The timing of this course provides an unusual opportunity for out-of-town artists: to learn new techniques and take advantage of our Winter Sale, all in one trip.
