It's not to late to nab one of the few spots left in the following June classes:
INTRODUCTION TO KILNFORMED GLASS • $495
Christy Corbett
June 18-23 (CL0835)
Monday-Friday, 10am-4pm
Saturday, 12-2pm
This class is an exploration of basic to intermediate kilnforming techniques with straightforward design projects integrating the fundamentals of kiln processes. Methods taught include kilncarving, fusing, and slumping—using clear, black and white, and colored glass to illustrate principles of design and color theory. Participants start by making studies with basic materials and methods and end by creating projects that bring all of the learning together—including a 13-layer, color-infused glass block. Prerequisite: Glass Cutting:
The Basics.
SET YOUR KILN ON FIRE • $415
Bonnie Celeste
June 25-29 (CL0839)
Monday-Thursday, 10am-5pm
Friday, 12-2pm
Using the Minor bench burner, amass an exciting array of design elements and apply them to kilnforming projects. Build your own rods in the kiln and bring them to the flame. Begin at the torch using rods, stringers, and sheet glass, and learn about firing schedules and other kilnforming issues. Projects include a finished plate created with multiple firings, two pieces exploring pattern and figurative designs, a series of reference tiles covering various techniques, and a more complex, thick project consisting of many layers. Some kilnforming experience is helpful but not required. Prerequisite: Glass Cutting: The Basics or equivalent experience.
