Q: When does the application open?
A: The Preliminary Application for BECon 2007 is now open. Click here.
Q: Why do I have to apply?
A: At BECon, we believe that the participants are as important as the programming and that a deeper, more focused exchange of information is possible if most of the attendees have similar aspirations and familiarity with the materials.
For this reason, attendance at BECon 2007 is by accepted application.
The conference is not restricted to those currently working full time in kiln-glass or to those who use Bullseye glass exclusively. We welcome participants with a variety of background experiences and professional involvement in kilnformed glass, architecture, or design. This will help stimulate the experience for everyone. If you would like to participate, we encourage you to apply and to tell us about your experience and goals with kiln-glass.
Q: I've applied and been accepted to BECon. How soon do I need to register?
A: It is to your advantage to register as soon as possible. We will accept applications as long as space is available in the conference. When we are within 50 spaces of closing out the conference we will send a broadcast email to all unregistered accepted applicants advising them to register or risk losing their space. Don't forget that the conference fee increases on May 1st and we expect a surge in registrations on that day. We will accept those registrations in the order in which they are received.
Q: May I register for just one day of the conference?
A: If space allows, day passes will be available for purchase from July 12-18 at a rate of $240 for Friday, $180 for Saturday and $100 for Sunday. If you register by July 16, the Friday pass includes lunch and the keynote address (special evening events are not included in the price of a day pass)
Q: I cannot attend the conference, but want to take a workshop. Am I eligible? How do I register?
A: Conference attendees are being given first priority for the workshops. Any workshops not filled by May 1 with conference attendees will be open to the general public. If you are not registering for the conference and want to be notified as soon as these classes open to the public, please send an email to conference@bullseyeglass.com. This will insure that you are at the top of the list for class registration.
Q: I need to cancel my conference registration. May I still be registered for the workshop?
A: Unfortunately, no. BECon registrants are given priority to the workshops. If you cancel your conference registration, your place in the workshop will have to be given to a BECon attendee on the class waiting list. If the class is not filled with BECon registrants by May 1, you may apply to re-register.
Q: May I only register for the special events - the Lehr-B-Que and Gallery Reception without registering for the full conference?
A: The special events are for conference attendees and their guests only. The limited space available makes it impossible for us to open them to others.
Q: Do you have any spouse/partner activities planned during the conference? Will they be able to audit individual sessions, for instance, without registering for the full conference?
A: Until July 1 you may purchase guest tickets for both the opening night gallery reception ($25) and the factory Lehr-B-Que ($65) on a space available basis. If the conference is not sold out we will also make tickets available for individual sessions at a cost of $50 for a 60-minute and $60 for a 75-minute session. These passes will only be available on the day of the events. Partners and spouses who are not registered for the conference may also register for any tours and workshops that are still available after May 1. Finally we are posting some of the many activities and resources of interest to visitors on our About Portland page. Another place to find ideas is the Portland Visitors Association website: http://www.travelportland.com/.
Q: When will I receive my registration packet?
A: When you sign in on-site at the conference.
Q: Any special attire needed for the factory tour?
A: Yes, long pants and closed-toe shoes are required. Safety glass will be issued at the door.
