PURPOSE
BECon 05 aims to support professionals in the field of kiln-glass* by providing both accurate technical information and providing exposure to the works of the finest artists and fabricators in the field. Through these efforts, Bullseye Glass Co. also strives to insure a healthy future for the medium, public appreciation for it as a glassworking method, and the continued growth of kiln-glass activity within the commercial and non-commercial sectors.
SPONSORSHIP
The conference is sponsored both by registration fees and by the financial support of Bullseye Glass Co. The glass materials used in conference workshops, exhibitions and demonstrations will, for the most part, be those produced by the company. Presenters and attendees will be selected primarilybut not exclusivelyfrom artists and technicians who are already familiar with this glass.

BULLSEYE BACKGROUND
Bullseye Glass Co. was founded by three artists in 1974 to manufacture colored sheet glass for the decorative glass market. Producing originally for the stained glass trade, the company soon focused on the techniques of kilnforming and developed the world's first line of "Tested Compatible" glasses. In 1983 two of the founders wrote and published a book that detailed the testing process and documented the Original research conducted at the company (Lundstrom & Schwoerer, Glass Fusing Book One, Vitreous Publications, 1983.)
Continued interaction with artists through its research and educational programs has resulted in a broad range of new or re-newed materials, methods and equipment from "tested compatible" glass to "painting with light" methods to the "Australian Roll-up", to the development of the vitrigraph kiln.
Working with artists is central to the company's mission and foundation of its continued growth.
*Kiln-glass is the broad term we use to describe any glassworking process, method or technique that employs a kiln as the primary tool in shaping the material. Other terms in common usage are kilnformed glass, fused glass and warm glass. Sub categories of the field include: slumping, kilncasting, roll-ups and a wide range of other related methods.
Kiln-glass education was the theme for BECon 2003. For additional background on that event see the Archives of the 2003 conference.
